And the message is being recorded part of the way through. All calls are being listed as Hits as if they are a live voice. No calls are being listed as Answering Machines (AM).

Can I create my own recordings or must I use a recording studio to record them?

You can easily record your own scripts and messages but for the most effective and professional results we recommend studio recordings. With our affiliates, you can obtain professionally recorded, ready-to-go scripts that will be emailed to you. You just put them in place.

14.

Don't most people just hang up when they get a call from one of these machines?

Yes. Most people do hang up. AND most people don't read your newspaper ad and most people just toss your direct mail piece in the trash. But, SOME do listen... And that's who we are looking for. Remember, it's a numbers game... and good quality scripts and recordings will improve your response.

15.

How many calls can Winlead make in a days time?

That depends on a few factors, length of presentation, response rate, time of day, day of week and many other factors. The average is 1000 calls per line per day.

16.

When I play back the messages people have left for me in cool edit it sounds all garbled.

When you listen to the messages, cool edit will open a window asking you for conversion information. The first window you should set to 8000, MONO, 16 BIT. Then click on "OK". Cool Edit will then open a second window, set that to MU-LAW 8 BIT. and click OK. Your message should now play back correctly.

17.

My system is reporting a hard drive full error message, but my hard drive is not full.

This is typically caused when "Failsafe" shuts off Winlead (see section 3.6 in your users manual) Failsafe is an emergency shutdown and requires you to restart your computer before using it again.

18.

I am trying to do a test broadcast to myself. I pick a script and my test list and click on the dial button. Nothing happens and the status line at the top says "list is empty or exhausted er1002"

This is probably one of two things. If you call a list, it must be reset before you can call it again. Open your list in List maker, go to the utilities pull down menu to "post and Reset" Check the box by reset all records and click on the work list button, then click exit. To review the steps required to reset a list go to section 4.31 in your users manual. If you are resetting your list and still get this error, it is trying to make the call, it can not complete the call, it gets to the end of your test list because you only have 1 or 2 numbers in it, and the error message is displayed. This is correct behaviour. You need to figure out why it cannot make the call. Check things like: 1) Are your phone lines plugged in? 2) Are your preferences setups correctly see section 3.4 in the manual? 3) Is the number in your no calls list?

19.

When I start Winlead dialing, the whole Winlead instance 1 window disappears.

This is Failsafe doing its job. Review section 3.6 in the users manual.

20.

How do I listen to the messages people have left me?

Review all of section 8 in your users manual, it covers both methods to listen to messages.

21.

How do I add a number to my no calls list?

Review section 9 in your users manual. It covers all of the features of the no calls list.

22.

I installed a new modem in my computer and now when I start Winlead I get an error "comctl32.dll" not correct.

The modem install program replaced the comctl32 file with a version that is not correct. Run the Winlead.EXE setup program on your Winlead CD again. This will reinstall the correct version of that file. You should back up your script and list folders before doing this.

23.

How do I FAX broadcast?

Winlead requires a FAX modem and Win FAX Pro software to be installed in order to FAX broadcast. Go to section 5.42 in your users manual to perform the steps to setup a FAX broadcast. If you are interested in doing multi-line Faxing, Winlead is not recommended. Please ask about our other products more suited to high-density FAX broadcasting.

24.

When my system is dialing how can I see what is happening on all my lines?

Go to the "results" pull down menu at the top of your instance window, select "view line activity". This will open the line activity window where you can see all your lines. /font>

25.

I start my system dialing but everything goes into the "other" category. What’s wrong?

An "other" is supposed to be an operator intercept message - "I'm sorry that number is no longer in service," etc. But any time, for any reason that Winlead cannot complete a call it will put it in the "other' group. Typical things to look for are: Check your voice preferences; Review section 3.4 in your manual; Check that you have dial tone on your phone lines (hook up a phone and make a call); Check that you are wired from the wall to your system correctly.

26.

When I start dialing everything goes into the "no select" category. What's wrong?

"No select" refers to a phone number that you told your system it is not allowed to dial. The most typical cause it that your local area code is not set correctly so Winlead thinks the number is long distance. You do not have the "dial long distance" check box checked, so it calls it a "no select". This is determined by your "voice" preferences. Go to the options pull down menu at the top of your Winlead window to "preferences" and click on the "voice" tab. Refer to section 3.4 in your users manual for complete details on all the settings. /font>

27.

What are the recordings in the "AM Message" folder, and what do I do with them?

These are recordings of phone calls that resulted in an operator intercept (That number is no longer in service) or a call that resulted in an answering machine that you could not leave a message on. They are provided for you as a way to manage your list. If you are or are not using this feature you must still delete these files off your hard drive on a periodic basis (once a week would be good) to recover that hard drive space.

The calls ARE being answered by an answering machine but the WRONG message is being played to the answering machine. They are receiving the question wav not the answering machine wav. And the message is being recorded part of the way through. All calls are being listed as Hits as if they are a live voice. No calls are being listed as Answering Machines (AM).

Go to your windows start button to find files. Find Winlead1.ini change the entry AM=4 to AM=3 and try it. If still not correct change it to AM=2 and try it.
